La Moitie: A Harmonious Blend of Contrasting Styles

One Fine Day Studio & Partners Create a Unique Multi Commercial Space

The name La Moitie, derived from the French word for 'half', reflects the design's core concept. This multi commercial space, featuring a fancy restaurant and designer showroom, is owned by a couple with contrasting style senses. Their unique relationship inspired the design, which uses square and circle, mild pink and black as basic elements to express the inner connection between half and mate.

The project stands out for its innovative use of contrasting but perfectly matched elements such as shape, color, and character. The result is a harmonious blend that offers viewers a dramatic space experience. The design was realized using materials like terrazzo, fiber-reinforced plastic, steels, and environmentally friendly coatings.

One Fine Day Studio & Partners aimed to provide a unique design space that goes beyond basic function needs. In La Moitie, visitors can not only appreciate the unique design but also sense the brand's storyline. The project started in November 2018 in Guangzhou and was completed in March 2019. It was launched in Panyu District, Guangzhou, in October 2019.

The design team faced several challenges during the project, including the collision relationship between black and pink. They wanted to create a space that was unified yet clearly divided into two characteristic spaces. After much analysis, they adopted a spiral staircase structure to connect the pink and black areas. This required removing the original floor structure and raising the entire first-floor space.

La Moitie's design is a testament to the team's creativity and technical prowess. It won the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a prestigious accolade granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. With its unique blend of contrasting styles, La Moitie is indeed a trendsetting creation that significantly impacts the world with its desirable characteristics.
